I really like the Trader Joe's Petit Verdot. It sells for $9.99 in WA and has velvety tannins, a good balance of acidity and fruit - simply delightful. I almost didn't buy it because of the brand! I thought it would somehow be a cheap lower quality wine but I was very surprised.

People are realizing that some boxed wines are the best value available. Well, I have tried them all and the best one, bar none, is Peter Vella, California boxed varietals. It's a family farm and they take real pride in
their wines. If you drink a lot of wine, as I do, you'll be really happy with these. |

I don't like boxed wine at all. The best value is Yellow Tail or Sutter Home. Great value wines.

The Barefoot wines at Trader Joes are only five bucks....They're so fruity they're practically juice, but tasty!

For my money, I think Yellow Tail is the best cheap wine. It's great for casual meals and parties. Their Cab is my favorite.

I say go for the Deep Canyon wines at Wally's - way better than the cheap stuff and it is $9 - 15 a bottle.

Try Oak Leaf at WALMART. Only $1.97, better price than two buck chuck by 2 cents!! My husband swears by the Merlot. He LOVES IT.

I saw this on the wine news a little while ago, that this study found people who thought they were drinking a more expensive wine believed it tasted better. They actually drank the same wine several times but each time it had a different price. Weird. I think price shouldn’t matter so much. |

Big Yellow Cab is the best wine under $10. It's full and fruity and great with steak.

Try any of the Chilean Sauvignon Blancs... they are perfect for a hot summer day. A good name to remember is Casa Lapostolle for both the the Sauvignon Blanc and the Merlot. If you want to spend some money, check out Sena, which is a bordeaux style and worth every penny!

I used to buy a lot of $5 Crow Canyon Cab from Cali. In a whole different league than $2 Charles Shaw, but I haven't seen it around in a while.
