| Well, I have this fish market that said they sell really fresh fish everyday. Ever since I have been eating their fish - nothing's been wrong with my health. So I still enjoy eating fish. |

|
|
I was boasting to my friends the other day about how I have switched to a clean and healthy diet. I mentioned I eat a lot of canned tuna. One of my friends who is working for a food and additives company queried, "Isn't canned tuna supposed to be unhealthy?!..it is highly processed!!"
My question is: Is it really considered unhealthy? The worrying thing is - I am eating it almost daily to help fulfill my protein requirements. *sigh* any comments on this. |

I like fish, but high mercury levels really scare me. I have cut back on it a lot, especially when there are other menu choices that I know are farmed safely. It is always something there in the back of your mind, especially here in LA where there are signs in some restaurants warning you about it.
I remember when The New York Times did an undercover report and found that several city sushi shops were selling sushi with mercury levels higher than considered acceptable by the EPA. I think that the EPA eventually took a few of them to court.
Seriously I wish that those undercover tests happened more often. I think people just forget about it. Its not like every neighborhood seafood restaurant or supermarket sushi stand can test their fish. And if they did I think that we would be pretty freaked out.
I'd just like to not have to worry about it. But if you can't live without it just definately stay away from shark and tuna, because those usually have the most mercury. |

A recent study revealed tuna sushi to contain levels of mercury high enough to permit the FDA to take legal action to remove the fish from the market.

Any thoughts? Will you be consuming less sushi because of the recent news about its high mercury content? |

| Is there anyone who plans to cut back or cut out their beloved sushi after the recent news about mercury? |
