|
|
I have had Shelly's burger. It's not bad. About a block away from Shelly's at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse 56th Street (between 5th/6th) they have a super-sized, juicy rich-tasting U.S.D.A. "prime" meat burger. It is made from the trimmings of their aged beef. It comes with organic salad greens, and jumbo steak fries. The whole plate is very filling.
Their filet mignon sandwich on club with au jus is a good deal too.
Uncle Jack's Steakhouse also features a Kobe beef burger, similar platter---and eating this is an experience. |

| For the absolute, hands down, best burger in all of NYC I give the nod to the kobe beef burger at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse in midtown. If you truly want the best burger you have ever tried, there is really no substitute. When you factor in that they make sweet potato steak fries that are to die for, and this is a lunch platter that can easily serve two people, it's hard to pass up. Not only is it one of the biggest burgers I have ever tried to consume, it is by far the tastiest. I would contend that Uncle Jack's Kobe beef is some of the best in the city by itself, but when you consider that you are also getting all the trimmings, and being treated to the upmost in wait service, it makes Uncle Jack's a can't miss for lunch and beyond! |

| Has anyone else tried the burgers at Shelly's restaurant on 57th St. near 6th Ave in Manhattan? It is definitely one of the best in New York City (I've tried most of the other highly rated burger places). The meat is juicy and full of flavor. The brioche bun is delicious. The size of the burger is satisfying and it comes with a nice order of fries. I never thought I would say $15 is a good price for a burger but this one is definitely worth it. Shelly's is a first class restaurant that specializes in seafood and Italian dishes. The atmosphere is fine and service is very good. One drawback - the drinks are expensive, for example, $11 for a Vodka tonic. If anyone else tries Shelly's, please let me know what you think! |

| Smith & Wollensky definitely has the best burger out of ALL of the New York Hotels and Restaurants! My mouth is watering just thinking of one! |

My favorite burger is from The Shake Shack! They are amazing. Great Taste, Great Service, Great Price!
And this is coming from one that works in the restaurant business.

| The burger at Smith & Wollensky Grill on 48th/3rd is my favorite burger in town. If you have the opportunity, try it. |

Not in any particular order...
WhiteHorse Tavern
Corner Bistro
Park Blue (small slider - great)
Burger Joint
Dumont Burger (Brooklyn)
JG Melon
and I think STAND could be all right after it gets more legs under it....another few months or so....and try Spitzer's Corner for another solid pick.
In response to some of the earlier posts --- Corner Bistro makes a great burger. The only issue I have with it is the size --- it's a little ridiculous which can create the feeling of a bland burger after your 50th bite. Perhaps an offering of a bacon or jalapeno infusion would serve it well. |

| These were all good choices. The burger at DB Bistro Moderne costs $32 however, so we made need a separate category for gourmet burgers versus your regualr workingman's burger. May I also nominate the Chelsea Grill of Hell's Kitchen for an honorable mention in the latter category. |

| Paul burgers in the East Village is the real deal. Juicy grilled with no pretence, no fancy accutruments, just good old fashioned 1950's goodness dripping down your chin and satisfying the appetite of the belly. spirit and soul. Kudo's to Pauls for not breaking to the pressure of all things of excess, just doin it right for all of us who know that the best is usually a simple well executed recipe with quality ingredients. |

| The most glaring omission from the list in Daniel Boulud's acclaimed DB Burger served at DB Bistro Moderne here in New York and at DB Brasserie in Las Vegas. The sirloin burger with a filling of boned short ribs braised in red wine, foie gras, and black truffle is incomparable! |

| And the burger wars have begun. Let me throw my bun back in the ring. If AVB212 thinks he can take down the Bistro, he's got another thing comin'. It is the best burger in town. You hear me, AVB212?! The best! So what if they're pre-cooked. Is that going to change the way my taste buds perceive that nugget of juicy bovine as it hits my tongue? No way. What does AVB stand for, anyway? Actually Very Bitter? |

| EU?! Blah! Hold the phone while I rifle through my airplane barf bag collection to deposit the bad taste in my mouth into my least valuable vintage paper vomintorium! C'mon now avb212. Your ID suggests you live in New York, but do you really live in New York? Physically, perhaps, but on other viseral plains, you're in Oklahoma my dear friend. |
